‘The art of being relevant is to forget what you know.’ Not necessarily a sentiment which all artists would agree with, but in the case of German producer Thomas Schumacher, it’s something he’s lived by over the last decade and judging by his considerable discography, it’s seemed to work.
On September 6th, Thomas returns to us after a hectic few months touring Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Austria to name a few. With releases on Noir Music, Pets Recordings and his own imprint Electric Ballroom, Schumacher’s profile has grown phenomenally in the last few years.
Another profile which is on the rise is Rebūke, a Letterkenny-based producer and DJ who takes inspiration from rave classics, remixing iconic tracks like the 2 Bad Mice track ‘Bombscare’ and Frank De Wulf's ‘The Tape’. Blending house and techno with a 90s rave aesthetic, it’s clear that Rebūke is creating his own sound which is currently incomparable to other artists from Ireland and the UK.
Fango completes the bill, a virtuous perfectionist obsessed with mixing bass-drums, recording percussions and sampling drummers. The Venetian producer has released a string of dancefloor-ready tracks on Running Back, Degustuibus and Hell Yeah Recordings in the last few months which received support from Ben UFO, Mano Le Tough & more - a sure sign that plenty more is to come.
